About Blogbox

An editorial publication for Australian small business and entrepreneurship. Where we come from and why we exist.

Why Blogbox

Australian small business has a coverage problem. The national press covers listed companies and political theatre. The business press covers strategy and finance. Small business, meaning the two-person bookkeepers, the forty-person manufacturers, the single-site cafes, mostly covers itself.

Blogbox is an editorial publication built for that gap. Long-form features, reporting, and practical operator-written playbooks, written for the people actually running these businesses, published weekly on Fridays.

We cover five sections:

  • Founders · profiles, case studies, and long reads on the people building Australian small businesses.
  • Money · the rates, funding markets, and macro signals small businesses actually feel.
  • Playbooks · operator-written guides to the decisions that disproportionately shape a small business.
  • Industry · reporting on the sectors where Australian SMBs live: retail, hospitality, trades, services, manufacturing.
  • Policy · what Canberra, the ACCC, and state regulators are doing to and for small business, in plain language.

Our editorial standards

We publish under a short, clear set of editorial standards. See our editorial policy for the full version; the shorter version is: every factual claim is sourced, corrections are disclosed, AI tools are used for research assistance only and disclosed when used for drafting, and we don’t take money for coverage.

Ownership and disclosure

Blogbox’s ownership has interests in other Australian small businesses. When we write about any of them, we disclose the relationship clearly in-line and in a banner at the top of the article. See our disclosure policy for specifics.
